You probably heard that the price for the new iPhone 3G has dropped to U.S $199. What you probably didn't hear is that you pay an extra U.S $240 over two years in "increased" data plan costs. So what do you end up paying? U.S $439 for the low end model.

Although this is true, it is only the beginning.
Late last month AT&T announced that for current iPhone users, the iPhone 3G will be offered at $199 for 8GB and $299 for 16GB models, as expected. However, for non-iPhone users the 3G phone will be offered at $399 and $499, just like before.
I'm sure everyone who finds out about this will be unhappy, just as I was, although I'm an iPhone user.
I found this information on the front page of ilounge.com
